Small companies risk reputation damage!
58% of companies believe that poor quality of marketing materials has directly affected the success of their marketing campaign.
These are the findings of recent research compiled by software firm Serif. They found that more than half of small companies design their own logo and stationery using free design software or Microsoft publishing programs.
Serif’s survey found that 56% of small companies design some (if not all) of their marketing materials themselves rather than use a professional design agency. Yet despite this 28% confessed they didn’t have the neccesary graphic design skills and over half felt that their current marketing was adversely affecting the business.
Using free design software may be beneficial to many small companies due to the cost saving benefits however if you think you wouldn’t have the skills to build a house yourself, then create the brand of your company on the cheap? In today’s modern markets, customers are much more aware that professional branding and design equals a quality product.
When we think about designing a logo we consider a huge number of factors? Will the logo still work when really small? What about reversed out or in a single colour?
If you think your logo, business cards and stationery are the first point of contact with a potential customer they need to be an excellent reflection of your company not just with the look of the design but the feel of the materials too. Using free design software does bring limitations and you may find that the resolution quality may not be ideal when blowing up on to large adverts and signage.
